Five Strategies for Navigating Change
For every new project, client, or role we take on, there’s always a period of finding one’s footing. Common questions arise: Was saying "yes" the right decision? Does discomfort mean it might not be? Is this really a good fit? Will things eventually feel normal?
Here are five strategies that might help you through the turbulence of change:
A Simple Formula for a Brighter Life
I’ve thought a lot about ranking how much I enjoy—or dread—different tasks throughout my day. That’s why I created a system to do less of what I dislike and more of what brings me joy. Inspired by my former coach Martha Beck, I call it “Bag It, Barter It, or Brighten It.” It’s an effective way to design your life so it’s as fulfilling as possible.
How to Stay Calm When Handling a Tough Client
Dealing with a challenging client can lead to tough conversations and moments that test your patience. Since many of us have faced situations like this (and if you haven’t yet, you likely will!), here are some strategies that can help you stay grounded and keep smiling.
Celebrating Small Wins: The Power of Appreciation in Building a Positive Culture
Several years ago, my husband Matt and I embarked on a five-month RV road trip in our vehicle, fondly named Freedom. Early in our journey, we began compiling a list of people and places that stood out for their exceptional service or kindness—whether it was a stack of melt-in-your-mouth pancakes, a warm smile, or a helpful tip on a "locals-only" shortcut.
Engaging Freelancers and Remote Workers: Strategies for Building a Connected Team
The landscape of work has transformed significantly, especially in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. More freelancers and remote workers are supporting traditional 9-5 industries than ever before. This shift has made it essential for companies to rethink how they engage and integrate these valuable team members into their culture.
Understanding "Awe" and Its Powerful Impact on Company Culture
Have you ever witnessed something so amazing it brought tears to your eyes? Put a lump in your throat? Or stopped you dead in your tracks?
You might never have thought about it until now, but that intense physical, emotional and mental response is the emotion of awe.
